Vintage Antique Dietz Junior Wagon Lantern Lamp Lantern, Early 1910s, Excellent

Description

This is a vintage Dietz Junior Wagon Lantern with a red glass bullseye on the back-metal panel and a metal clip on the side for hanging off a buggy or wagon, made by R.E. Dietz Company of New York.
Many Dietz Junior lanterns were made for export with the Hindi/Sanskrit writing, which translated into “Real Dietz - Made in America.” This version of Dietz Junior Wagon lamps was produced from 1900 to 1914, with bullseye lens added since 1910 to magnify light from the burner.
Inscribed/embossed on the lamp “Dietz” (on top of the lamp); “Dietz Junior, N.Y., U.S.A” and some Hindi text (around the metal base/on the front next to the fuel and back), and “Dietz Junior Wagon Lamp” (on the metal on top of the red bullseye).
In great original shape and condition with minor signs of wear like some scuffs, missing paint, and rust spots. Doesn’t come with a wick.
